Modernization 2021: the Role of Governance and Institutions

Tuesday, April 27th, 2021

In the year of the thirtieth anniversary of Ukraine's independence analytical platform VoxUkraine suggests to critically assess the state of governance in Ukraine and ways to improve it.

Governance is a complex and multifactor system that implies cooperation of different players. It includes the distribution of powers, processes of policy formulation, institutions responsible for management of public resources and provision of public services at state and local levels, as well as law enforcement agencies. Government is not only about functioning of these institutions but also about relations between various parts of the state as well as between the state and citizens.

Strength and modes of cooperation of different stakeholders affect the quality of governance in the country, which in its turn affects the life of every citizen.

Our role as an organization is to prevent the government and the society from making a U-turn and going back to the past from which we have painfully escaped. We believe in personal, social and economic freedoms based on responsibility. We understand our responsibility and impact on the development of the state.

Therefore, during the virtual conference we will focus on the problems of governance reform, evaluation of the efficiency of public funds use, factors of strength and sustainability of government institutions, the role of citizen engagement into the governance at the community, regional and state level.
